Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 19, 2026

Jean-Paul D’Andrea (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website https://jeanpauldandrea.com (the “Site”). The Site is a content blog publishing articles about finance, startups, money, and education. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Comments. When you leave a comment on the Site, we collect the name, email address, and website URL you enter, along with your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it, in order to display your profile picture next to your comment.

Contact form. When you contact us through the Site’s contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message so that we can read and respond to your inquiry.

Cookies. If you leave a comment on the Site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year. If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days (or two weeks if you select “Remember Me”); screen options cookies last for one year. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser indicating the post ID of the article you edited; it expires after one day.

Embedded content. Articles on the Site may include embedded content (for example, videos, images, or articles) from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if you had visited the other website. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.

Analytics and advertising. We may use analytics services to understand aggregate readership (such as which articles are popular) and may display advertising on the Site, including through advertising networks such as Google AdSense. These third parties may use cookies or similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to measure performance and provide relevant ads. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at Google’s Privacy & Terms page, and you can opt out of personalized advertising through Google’s Ads Settings.

Server and security logs. Our hosting provider may automatically log technical information such as IP addresses, browser types, referring pages, and timestamps for security, diagnostics, and site operation.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to operate and maintain the Site, publish and moderate reader comments, detect and prevent spam and abuse, respond to messages sent through the contact form, and understand our audience in aggregate so we can improve our content.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as described here: with our hosting provider to operate the Site; with spam-detection services that check visitor comments; with the Gravatar service (an anonymized email hash) when you comment; and with analytics and advertising partners as described above. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Messages sent through the contact form are retained for as long as needed to handle your inquiry. For users that register on the Site (if any), we store the personal information they provide in their user profile; all users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Your rights over your data

If you have left comments on the Site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Controlling cookies

You can control cookies through your browser settings: most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. Note that some parts of the Site may not function properly if you disable cookies.

Children’s privacy

The Site is a general-audience blog and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
